Stress & Anger

"Stress and anger are often two sides of the same problem, and both could be doing damage to your career success, your marriage, your physical health, and your sense of well-being and happiness." Dr.Pandolfi

Feeling stress and wanting to quit work?

It’s tough to go through each day feeling frustrated about work. The emotional upset likely makes it hard to accomplish anything. You may be easily distracted, and lacking focus, with no desire and motivation to attend to your daily tasks.

To make things worse, if you don't have a boss you can talk to, or a workplace where personal intiative and problem solving are encouraged, you might feel trapped in a no-win situation.

And the stress of spending so much time in that kind of environment every day can make you short-tempered and irritable with your family and friends in the rest of your life, too.

It doesn't have to be that way.

While counseling might not change the unreasonable rules of your job, it can help you cope with them more effectively, so the stress doesn't build up and boil over.

Of course, sometimes stress comes from yearning to do something else with your life. Your workplace may have many wonderful people in it, but you just don't enjoy the job.

Maybe you feel like you are meant to be doing something more creative. It could be that you'd prefer to have a more fact-paced, or high risk job. Or maybe you feel you'd thrive in a position where you have more autonomy and authority to make independent decisions.

Just because you are good at what you do, doesn't guarantee you'll be happy doing it.

As your healthy emotion specialist in overcoming stress and wanting to quit work, we like to help.

Losing control of your anger too often?

No one has to tell you that when stress levels get high, angry outbursts are likely to happen. It's almost physiological when you don't have other ways to cope -- the more stress you're under, the more impatient, short-tempered, and angry you start to feel.

Yet, acting on those angry moments usually creates more trouble.

You might say things you don't really mean, and some of them might sounds like threats that could get you into real trouble. But that anger just has to be let out, and that leads to slamming doors, throwing stuff, and yelling at people who aren't even doing anything wrong.

When stress and anger get bad enough, without good coping mechanisms, they can also lead to fights and domestic abuse. I know you don't want that.

If you are like many who struggle with anger, you might feel bad about it later, but also a little embarrassed, and that makes it harder to apologize and compromise.

Counseling will help.

You might notice that people are acting like they are a little afraid of you and what you're going to do next. And that's probably taking a toll on your relationships.  It might even be putting your job in jeopardy.

The stress of feeling so much anger all the time could be affecting you physically, too. Headaches, problems sleeping, drinking too much, ulcers, and an increased level of aches and pains could be signs that both stress and anger are growing to a dangerous point.

Counseling can help you express anger and stress constructively -- without ruining relationships and getting fired.

In counseling, you can learn how to recognize your stressors more quickly, and deal with them more effectively so they don't interfere with career productivity, marriage, parenting, and a happy social life.
